-my pagnapagana-

I arrived at downtown Sablan at 6:20 in the morning of December 1, 2013.
At 6:51 am, i rode a jeep going to Barangay Banangan (the jeep was bound for Baguio City). It was 7:03 am when i arrived at the intersection at Barangay Banangan and ate at a small eatery.

The intersection from Naguilian road (National Highway)

At 7:25 am, i started to walk from the national highway into the intersecting road.

A view overlooking the Naguilian road

I passed by the Saint Louis University Housing area (SLU Centennial Village) at Sitio Peday of Barangay Kamog at 7:44 am.

I arrived at the intersection of roads going to Barangay Kamog proper and Barangay Pappa at 8:19 am.

I took the  road going to Barangay Pappa
Along the way i inquired at a store about some of the tourist spots on the area. "Lino Daniel" the president of the Senior Citizens and their Cooperative group was the one whom i talked to. He said that i can visit the Aneng river but i have to go back at the intersection and take the road going to barangay Kamog proper. So, at 8:45 am , i went back to the intersection and took the road going up to barangay Kamog proper. I passed by the Caladjo Michael G. Angel Elementary School.

Along the way, the road became all downhill. So, i will have to exert more effort when coming back to this area for an all ascending hike.

The "triple B" (Barangays Bagong, Balluay &Banengbeng) mountain at a distance

I finally arrived at Sitio Banao where there were some flower gardens along the way. At a roadside there was a sign that says "Welcome Aneng".

The entrance trail going to Aneng River

A man carrying a wood on his shoulder was on his way out from the trail. I asked him if that was the trail going to the Aneng River and he said yes.
I walked along the trail and again
there were flower gardens along the trail.

After some downhill hike, the trail leads to a lonesome house. A sprinkler was placed right at the center of the trail watering the ground ready for planting.

The lonesome house on the trail where there was also a water sprinkler at the center of the path

I have to get the right timing to run towards the other end as not to get very wet as much as possible. At the other end of the "sprinklers territory", i entered the make-shift gate of the house and talked to the owner to get directions going down to the river. I told him that i talked to Councilor Busoy about this. He showed me the connecting trail going down the river.
It was an all downhill hike and the trail was clear. Going down was easy but i have to ponder going up when i will come back to this trail. I finally arrived at a farm near the river and went down to a hanging bridge (10:43 am).

The river has a very clear water. I can see the river bottom even when it is very deep.

I went upstream walking along the rocky river banks to explore the area and took some photos and videos.

A side waterfall pouring to the river

Here i am at the river, just below the hanging bridge
Lingered there for a while and at around 12 noon, i departed the area and walked on the trail going up at the side of the mountain.

Hiking back requires greater effort as it was all uphill

It was a very exhausting hike going up. I stopped many times to rest and catch my breathe. I finally arrived at the lonesome house at 12:43 pm. There were two dogs that barked at me as i walked my way to the make-shift gate of the house. Thanks to the boy who came out from the house and stopped the dogs from barking. At the "sprinklers territory", i did the "run-for-it" again as it was placed at the other end. That was some obstacle, a free shower along the way.

a view from the trail
Hiked up again to the roadside above. Passed by some flower gardens along the trail.
Tired and sweating, i arrived at the roadside at 1:02 pm. At the shed along the way, one of the man sitting there smiled at me and said "sika diyay napan ediay Aneng River?" (you are the one who went to Anong River?). "wun, makabannog" (yes, very tiring") i answered back while smiling.
I continued Walking my way up at the tiring and exhausting uphill road and finally arrived at the intersection going to Barangay Pappa at 2:24 pm. At the intersection, i rested on a waiting shed and decided to ride a tricycle going back to the main highway at Barangay Banangan where i took a mini-bus going back to Home Sweet Home.
