Please practice the leave no trace outdoor ethics when going to these nature places. Let us not vandalize, put graffiti on their rocks and stone walls. Manage and dispose our waste products properly.

If you find this story/blogpost interesting and/or had helped you in any way (in your researches, works, travels, blogs, adventures, homeworks at school, a personal project and more), I'd like to hear a word or two from wonderful people like you or simply Like "pagnapagna" in Facebook. I'd be very thankful. It gives me inspirations. Cheers!

-my pagnapagna-

Still tired from my Mt. Kabunyan hike, together with my guide "Digno", we went to the store to have a snack. Afterwards, from Poblacion barangay proper, we walked along the cemented road and passed by the barangay hall (1:41 pm). Few meters into the road going up, we turned left to a dirt road going northeast. Passed by some roadside rice fields and terraces along the way. The "Tres Marias Falls" can be seen very far away as it cascades down at a mountainside.

"Tres Marias" Falls as seen from the trail (slightly zoomed)

Ponder! ponder! Some portions of the mountainside trail we walked on, although wide enough, were along the edge, if not for the grass overgrowth it is overlooking the river way down below (it's just me - fearful). I slowed down on that mountainside trail for i think i have a problem with my balancing act aggravated by my backpack (or was it the other way around my backpack was helping me) or it may be my fear-anticipating me to fall down.
As we walked, at a distance, the waterfalls can now be seen. At first sight, with my amazement, I said "wow, nagmayaten!". We arrived at the waterfalls at 2:18 pm.

The Tekip falls at a distance

The waterfall has its distinct character compared to the other waterfalls that i have seen. Part of its rock drop-off tip above slightly protrudes and looked like a balcony that splits its falling waters. Then its falling waters are interrupted by a diagonal surface near its base which make it even more unique.

The Tekip falls.

After taking some photographs and videos, i noticed a cluster of bees (beehive) hanging underside of one of the boulders. So we took extra precaution not to disturb them. My guide said they can detect perspiration. I wonder if that's true? Anyway, i don't want to prove if it was right or wrong at that time.
We went back on the mountainside trail to get back (2:54 pm) and along the way, the skies turned gloomy. Until we arrived at the Poblacion barangay proper.

for the main Blog post of Poblacion, Bakun CLICK HERE

Subject  : Tekip Falls
Location : Barangay Poblacion
                Municipality of Bakun
                Province of Benguet

How to get there:
From Manila ride a bus going to Baguio City then you may either ride a jeepney or taxi going to La Trinidad. Just remember that there is only one bus bound for Poblacion, Bakun and it departs La Trinidad as early as 6:30 in the morning.
At Poblacion, Bakun, Benguet, since they are now tourist-oriented you will be asked to register at the barangay hall and probably be asked to take a Guide with a fee.

Note on the Bus Schedule:
The lonesome Bus parks and waits for passengers at Kilometer 5 (at the side of Petron Gas Station just fronting Jollibee) departs as early as 6:30 in the morning.
Before, they have three buses  where one departs from La Trinidad, the other departs from Poblacion (Bakun) while the third one rests, all at the same time. But now they have only two buses and sometimes they still practice that rest day meaning there maybe no buses at some days in the departure areas (La trinidad and Bakun).

UPDATE as of NOVEMBER 16, 2015

The only bus to be seen parked at the Petron Gas Station is the one going to SINACBAT, the bus going to Poblacion is said to have been removed in the area and had transferred somewhere after the public market at "Kenwayne"
