(April 29, 2017 a Saturday)
At the Burgos' Market area, I went to see if "Jun" was around at the tricycle parking area. He was my previous impromptu guide when I went to Budahaw Falls way back year 2013. Unfortunately that day was their family clan reunion as told by one of the tricycle drivers.
Instead, they went to see one of their companion who was manning a "sari-sari store" and he did agreed to be my guide and he added that we will be taking the "short-cut" which is a branching road from the previous and its another trail.
With his tricycle we departed downtown (7:37 am) and went on an uphill, one-lane road. Along the way, we left turned on another road that eventually turned into an earth road and we finally arrived at the drop-off area (7:49 am).
We started walking on that descending trail. Everything was downhill which will be a "pahirapan" when we get back as it will be an all uphill walk.
We passed by a house along the way and still we went down and down until we reached the river (8:21 am).
"Budahaw falls" can be seen at the distance on the right side but we decided to go first at the other waterfall at another tributary behind the mountain. So, we went downstream and along the way there was a spring water clean enough for drinking (as my guide told me). We kept walking and hopping from one rock to another.
At the junction of the two rivers, we went upstream on the second river and finally we were at the so called "Shopdisan Falls" (8:51 am).
Shopdisan Falls
This waterfall is with waters falling all year round with around 40 to 50+ feet drop and its basin or pool area is good enough (not too deep) for swimming. Its look reminds me of that of Tuddingan Falls.
For your "Guide" to the waterfalls, ask for "Sherwin". |

For other posts about Burgos, La Union:
From Manila take a bus bound for either of these : Laoag City, Vigan City, Candon City, Bangued (Abra), or La Union.
But you have to get down at the Plaza of Bauang, La Union.
Then walk your way to the waiting shed located at the road going east (Naguilian Road) fronting the Municipal Library of Bauang. From there, wait and ride a bus bound for Baguio City. Get down at barangay New Poblacion of Burgos, La Union (it is near the Public Market and a walk away from the Municipal Hall of Burgos). Walk up to the Market and ask for a guide (tricycle drivers) or you may try to visit their Municipal Hall during weekdays.
