"I got a feeling that the barangay was named after the energy giving cells called Batteries which we call it in Ilocano as BATERIA. Funny, even the watchtowers' shapes are like batteries. Just a silly thought."

11:53 am at Sulvec, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, I rode a mini-bus going back south to the town of San Esteban.
From the mini-bus, I got down at the barangay Villa Quirino (12:20 pm), San Esteban, Ilocos Sur. Villa Quirino is the Barangay before the Barangay of Bateria when coming from the National Highway going towards west.

Hungry, I went to eat at a local eatery nearby. Stayed there for a while just to pass the time and avoid the hot noon sun but I was not patient.
It was 12:46 pm when i started walking going westward at a road along the seashore.
I finally, arrived at the watchtower.
The "Bateria Watchtower" !!??? |
I finally arrived at the miniature Bateria Watchtower. Constructed by the Barangay near the entry point where the real Bateria Watchtower is located.
A few more walks and their it was the Bateria Watchtower (1:02 pm).
This is the real Bateria watchtower |
A family were resting and having a picnic at a shed nearby.
I took a shelter at another shed near the watchtower then went down at the seashore to do a sketch under the hot afternoon sun.

Recently painted white (as of time of writing) and the trees that had engulfed its walls has been cut down as an effort to preserve the said structure.
