At around eleven o'clock in the morning, I was at the Baguio Museum to submit my other painting entitled "Ag Snow Kuma" (Hoping it would snow) as I had submitted one painting earlier entitled "1917" together with my co-artists. There, the staff led by ma'am Gemma Estolas were very busy in the preparation for the afternoon event.

After I had submitted and hanged my painting at the exhibition hall, since there was still plenty of time before the event, I left and ate lunch (arroz caldo) at the bus station area and afterwards went for a stroll at Burnham park.
I noticed that there were so many cars parked along the road beside the park. To my delight they were all volkswagen. I had bumped into the "Grand Volks Cañao". From the old and rugged to the shining shimmering new models of volkswagen were there for viewing.

As I walked, from a distance, I saw paintings on display and seen the Baguio artists doing portrait sketch at an open area. I turned shy again, and went farther away into the array of parked volkswagen (silly me it's getting me nowhere, I ask forgiveness from the Baguio artists).
After some few more minutes my co-artist "Raph Victor" arrived and we went through all those volkwagen again.

At around 2:30 in the afternoon, we went back to the museum for the opening of the Art Festival.
While waiting for the festival to start, I met Baguio-based artist sir Roland Bay-an who voluntarily made a pencil sketch of me ☺.

Artists, guests and visitors were arriving. Among the guest who arrived early was the mayor of Baguio City, Hon. Mauricio Domogan. Later on, "Kidlat Tahimik" came to visit.

| "1917" Acrylic on Canvas 16" x 18" year 2016 Above is one of the two entries of "pagnapagna" to the 2nd Baguio Museum Arts Festival. It is an Igorot holding the Baguio Public Market Stone Marker. Although in reality, the Stone Marker is much larger in size and can not be held by only one person, the painting is a symbolic gesture of the stone marker's historical significance to Baguio's development as a City. As of writing, the stone marker can be seen at the entrance of the Maharlika Livelihood Center. |
↯"Kidlat Tahimik" ↯ whose real name is Eric De Guia is a film director, actor and a writer whose works are into indie films which were acclaimed internationally.

| "Ag Snow Kuma" (Hoping it will snow) Acrylic on Canvas 16" x 18" year 2016 Another painting of "pagnapagna" that depicts the whimsical thoughts of having a snow in the City of Baguio. It shows an Igorot holding a painting of Baguio Museum in winter, covered with snow. If it will snow in the Philippines, definitely it would be felt first in the uplands such as in Baguio City. Fancy thoughts, who knows since its Climate changing. |
At around 4 o'clock in the afternoon, the event formally opened with the introductory speech of Ma'am Heidi Rodriguez (an artist, event organizer from Friends of Baguio Museum) followed by speech from the Mayor of Baguio City who is no other than Hon. Mauricio Domogan.
After the ribbon cutting that formally opened the art exhibit, cocktail was there for the taking. Few minutes more into the late afternoon, there were drum performances from the baguio based artists accompanied later on by a sort of blowpipe instrument and a harmonica.

Unfortunately two of our co-artists came late (coming from the interior municipalities of Pangasinan) with them were their paintings that still needed to be hanged ☹ but everything was "ironed-out" and went well ☺.

Night came and the festival went on but since we were from the province it was time for us to leave in order to catch the late-night buses bound for the provinces.
We left with nurtured artists' hearts bound for Home Sweet Home.

About the Artist:
Recently proclaimed himself as a "Hiking Artists", he obviously loves a walk with nature alone or with a friend or two and sketches as much as possible on locations.
He was awarded by the Metrobank Foundation as Second place in the Watercolor category in the 12th Metrobank Foundation National Painting Competition
and Honorable Mention in the 1999 Metrobank
Foundation Inc. Young Painter’s Annual National Painting Competition, both are now known as Metrobank Art and Design Excellence Competition (MADE). He also made it as finalist (honorable mention) in the 1996 Philippine Arts Awards with watercolor as his medium.
He currently plans to be "regional" with his arts reflecting his regional home that is the Ilocos Region and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
